  Artist Biography

I think art ability can be acquired, but in my case, it definitely was inherited and so I showed promise at the early age of six and was encouraged throughout my young years. An aptitude test in high school pointed to my love of children, art, and a career in teaching.

I graduated from Western Michigan University with a major in art and began a teaching career in Reese and Frankenmuth, Michigan that spanned 30 years. During that time, I only produced several pieces of art a year, giving most of my energy to family and teaching. I began painting in oils in college, followed by acrylics and watercolors during my teaching years. Watercolors became my favorite medium after taking a class in 1987 and discovering its mysteries.

When I retired in 1996, I decided to rent a place as an art studio in Saginaw, MI where I reside. It has become a place for my own painting and for teaching children and adults with an emphasis in watercolors to adults. There is an excitement in sharing the art experience with others. I began exhibiting during a time that I became involved with a watermedia organization called Saginaw Area Watermedia Artists. I have now produced enough work to be able to share with you.
